We spoke with Adrian to learn more about his most recent project and how companies benefit from using independent consultants.

Your Talmix project:

My assignment was working for Visa where I was to manage a portfolio of 422 corporate banks such as HSBC, Barclays and RBS. Working with issuers, acquirers and processors, I migrated them to Visa’s new chargeback (dispute) online platform Visa Resolve Online (VROL). I was the primary contact for all clients who have questions or issues regarding implementing the new Real Time System Interface (RTSI) online platform. The biggest challenges were to educate clients on the new online changes especially with language and time zone differences. My role was a success as I managed to get all the European clients on-boarded to the new online platform.

Most significant accomplishment:

While working as a Senior Implementation Consultant on the banking ring fencing project for a top 4 Bank I was recognised as one of the top performers on the project by hitting 100% of KPIs for 9 consecutive months. I also successfully passed Prince 2 Practitioner exam in Project Management while working full time.

Best bits of being an independent consultant?

I enjoy working in new challenging environments with different people who bring their own set of experiences. Every project is different, so you are always learning about new products and gaining new skills, whilst sharing your expertise.

Why work with an independent consultant?

The advantages are they are hiring an experienced person who can hit the ground running with the specific expertise needed for the project. They have someone who has a different point of view to people who work for the company. It also improves efficiency on a project. By bringing someone in who already has the knowledge needed, you save time and money training staff and bring people up-to-speed for the project.
